infocomm camp clashed with interact camp. and i chose interact without much consideration. its cuz i feel more involved in interact, much more involved, although i joined infocomm since sec 1 and interact this yr.
infocomm. every friday, go there, sit down with jiaxuan and samuel, surf some random games site or car site.. no nth. but i dont miss any trainings. den next thing, u find out that sec 4s and a few sec 3s have been involved in some major shit.. and u werent informed.. till halfway.. den u go ask the chairman, he tells u he will update you.. but he disappears till it is all over. he goes up to announce the glory, 10 crumplers.. 10 windows vistas a trip for 10 to some place.. 10..
there werent fucking 10 people who took part.
jiaxuan and samuel oso sama
den their teacher in charge. i left my file in comp lab she just left it outside, and it was gone.. i couldnt mug for my tests and u cannot imagine how badly i flunked them. EOY is whole yrs work, and you can say i felt doomed.
kk the main thing here is, the last day of infocomm camp, they had like 20 pizza there. ben lau saw me, and said "hey i know you! youre meng siew right? you see you were supposed to get one of these, but since you are not here, too bad" i really cant forget it and i really wish he din say that
fine, i went for interact instead of infocomm, but i din make up excuses like i had fever.. or even worse din bother to even give an excuse.
den that day before interacters go dinner, the bunch of infocomm exco were sitting there, and when i walked past, they gave me shit again, sarcastically saying shit bout me having a nice attititude. they wouldnt give me face in front of interact ppl. when u all are involved in shit u dun tell me, and when i miss a camp u treat me like some asshole. check my attendance, i made it for at least 90% of the trainings and the camps, and if there wasnt interact camp i would have gone to infocomm camp even though jx and samuel arent going.
it wasnt like that during shermond ong's time.. this ex co is driving the hell out of me. some said quit infocomm, but i wun let this few childish ppl make me leave, cuz ive joined since sec one and im just unlucky to have them. but it will be difficult, with their teacher in charge to their aid. but i dun care, i dun deserve that treatment.

Scholastic Environment Foundation Model City Council
Saturday, May 26, 2007

Today is SEF Model City Council, and above, its RI IN ACTION =D
we are supposed to write a bill of laws to implement to stop or even reverse the world's climate change. ours was damn imba.. our bill was to give companies carbon credit, so that they (they.. would make it into a better world..) will pollute lesser, and those poor companies who pollute damn little can sell the excess credits to other companies who need it, and close the disparity btw rich and poor. imba right? we are supposed to get in for sure. and the team that got the most number of votes, heres their law:
It is COMPULSORY for everyone in the country to plant a tree from his/her 16th birthday onwards. Upon failure to do so, penalties would be given.
I was like 哭笑不得。there are more than 4 mil ppl in singapore, and assuming 4,000,000 is 16 and above, there will be 4,000,000 new trees every year! =) By 2009, Singapore would become a forest. and they mentioned sth about cutting down trees to plant more trees =/ and its damn funny how they got countered. they said they would sell the trees to other countries for profit. one guy asked who would buy the trees? and its like who the hell wants to spend their birthdays planting trees?
so we were fed up, and we started playing the thumb game.. u know the one when u say a number den everyone will randomly lift either none or 1 or 2 thumb(s).. yeah.. we played that for damn long, and we talked alot alot of funny crap.. like wad bald guy say prepare to be dazzled, and he shows his high albedo rate head.. den wad lame jokes like
"the turbine engine is the pilot's fan. turn it off and the pilot starts to sweat"
den we oso talked about someone who changes our sch motto to auspicium meliori aevis
den we went on to discuss the new A380 pilot's pay.. we couldnt be bothered anm.
oh ya i just rmbed sth bout the spelling bee. one of the qn was
"Pulau _________ is the dunnowad dunnowad" i forgot the exact qn.. but the answer was like ubin.. tekong this kind.. our answer was "而获“ i laugh for freaking long after we answered that.. oh yah i met miss tsang there.. im glad she remembers me.. and we talked for quite abit..
i got my cube back, lol when i was queuing to use the fone outside staff room, i was thinking of wad to say, cuz i had damn alot of bad experience with that stupid procedure i shall blog abt it next time.. but when the guy in front of me spoke, i knew str8 away wad to say.
He said:"ma'am, this is , erm may i get my cube back? it is friday already and i want to play with it for the june holidays."
i was not the only one afterall.

and thats all for the announcements today, parade commander, please proceed.
baris.. sedia!
keluar baris!

Students of top schools worry more about elitism.
Sunday, May 20, 2007

The headlines of this article caught my eye as I browsed through the newspapers; I couldn't believe the irony in it. Elite students being more worried about elitism than others? I never saw it that way although I am well-aware of an unspoken stereotype system among students. That is, if you are in a reputed school, you are "better" than students from neighborhood schools. This is directly because elite students have a higher possibility of getting jobs with better prospects that would naturally lead to comparatively greater success in life. In other words, the process to a resounding career is smoother for the elite than those from the 'lower' end of the spectrum. This leads to an inferiority complex when students from the neighborhood schools compare themselves with the elite students, leading to the widely misconceived impression of elite students as "cold" and unfriendly. It seemed logical to me then, that non-elite students should be the ones worrying about elitism, especially when Singapore educational system breeds elites.
However, this survey has proven me wrong. Both elite and non-elite students feel that the main behaviour of elitism is looking down upon academically weaker students. It has been shown that students of the elite schools find that this behaviour is present among them significantly. Yet, the students from the non-elite schools do not feel that they are being looked down upon by the elites amongst them. This might be due to the different definitions of elitism between the 2 groups of students. The students from top schools regard elites as those of better academic results while those from the less reputed schools feel that elites are those who excel in sports, music or the arts.
After reading this, I feel that the students from top schools are more competitive both academically and aesthetically, where they would try ways and means to be the creme de la creme. In such competitiveness, there is no doubt that elitism would occur. However, in the case of neighbourhood schools, the stress level is lower so students would not compete as aggressively amongst themselves. Perhaps because they feel that there is no point trying so hard anymore. This is a serious negative side-effect of Singapore's education system, where there is a certain self-resignation in the students who fail to make it on the hopeful track of moving from one top school to the next.
Elitism is an unavoidable issue in developed countries, for the system is created where only the best can succeed, with more ease. It becomes a problem when elitism separates the people, where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and social classes form. As much as people try to blur the lines between the classes, I find it an inevitable effect of a modern society and that given the money-driven economy, what the elite and the government can do would be to provide financial help to the other classes wherever is needed, so as not to illuminate the cracks that exist.

New software to track cities' carbon emissions

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18720296/

I am very sure that everyone has heard of the term, "global warming". I think it has become a phrase so commonly used, that it it has lost its meaning. However, it is a serious issue that has to be solved, as scientists have shown that if it goes on uncontrollably, man will soon face the danger of extinction, just as many other species have. The main reason would be overheating of the globe's temperature, or the more popular case, drowning, where the ice melts and the earth would be completely covered by water. Global warming is the result of the high concentration of greenhouse gases, mainly made up of carbonic particles, with the most common one known as Carbon Dioxide. Sad to say, global warming is a process that is hard to reverse, due to a process called feedback. The snow is white, and it reflects light well. When it starts to melt, it would then expose the colour of earth, brown, which absorbs light. As the brown colour absorbs the light,
it will heat up, causing more snow around to melt, exposing even more earth. This cycle is very difficult to stop, and even impossible to reverse.
However, I think that efforts to stop global warming are not completely wasted. Controlling the amount of carbon emitted by industrial factories is a very good way to control pollution. Companies would then do their best in reducing units of carbon emitted. Emitting more than the quota assigned to them would result in prosecution. I think that in this way, companies would make the best out of each unit of carbon atom, and they would be given grants for researching other ways of improving their processes to ensure the least amount of carbon produced. As such, the least pollution would create the most output.
I feel that to control the climate change, global effort is needed. Individuals, especially teenagers and children might think that they have no authority nor power to create the least change. Yet in truth, they are the very pillars of support for the world in the future, for they would ultimately be the ones leading this world. To get everyone involved in make global-saving efforts, we must first start with ourselves, and then influence those around us. A Chinese saying goes "
一传十,十传百", which literally means one spreads to ten, ten spreads to a hundred. I am very certain that if everyone work together for a ocmmon goal, that is to put a stop to climate change, it is definitely possible.

BUSY
Saturday, May 19, 2007

damn sorry couldnt update, past few days uber busy. like today morning chiong sch for open house, humans club, den at 2 chiong to singapore poly for interact tea session. and i juz reached home, and i havent touched 2 english blog entries and social studies. ma de.
and im damn asshole, everytime i receive a date for some event, i will say okay okay i can make it, and now i realised that 3 things clashed.

Important Events.
25th May - Interact Mass Meeting
26th May - SEF Model City Council at SAJC
28th 29th 30th May - Interact Camp
28th 29th May - Infocomm Camp
29th May - Pet Car DMP

4th 5th June - Leadership Workshop
6th 7th June - MGS Youth Conference

wow. im so looking forward to 29th may. I will definitely go for pet car, cuz its 6 hrs of DMP, and ive invested in it. Interact is my second choice, cuz im more involved in it than infocomm. Samuel says infocomm is a liability. naice.
something tells me that i need to keep a diary. Figel Nong has a diary, and its so bloody filled that if u close the book hard enough, ink will splash out. for me, my ORA diary is so new that i think if i were to putit near a tree, it would grow and be part of the tree.
oh ya, ive bought 2 by 2(ice edition) and 3 by 3 cube, and some day imma get Mrs Martina Ong to organise a mass cubing competition. Daniel Wong will definitely own it hands down. Isaac will have some difficulty entering the competition due to his overly imba 4 by 4 cube that has animal faces.

For your info, these are the costs of the cubes
5 by 5 by 5(Professor's Cube): $32.90
4 by 4 by 4(Rubik's Revenge): $20.90
3 by 3 by 3(Rubik's Cube): $11.90
2 by 2 by 2(pocket Cube): $7.90
1 by 1 by 1(Die): Don't be a retard.

Can buy from comix connection, or if u are lazy, you can buy it thru me at 1800-MAL-BOOM. i wun collect a single cent of interest. however, u have to give me a black Lamborghini Gallardo.
It was after Interact, when we were coming out of the pri sch. There was no dustbin nearby, so i looked for box baggers to put my drink on. ah, Jon. It stayed there forever, and he din notice it at all. who knows? it might still be on his bag right now. So, dun go calling him and say "eh jon go check your bag, meng left his rubbish there." cuz he might go crazy and swollow the thing in a nanosecond.

Benjamin "Sumo" See-Toh in action. the one with the green waistline. naice. (this was during open house)
I've got balls, you've got balls, but have you got cubes?

kk its like this.
in 3q, junrui always brings his soccerball everyday to play in class. do freestyle.
den we do all kinds of trick.. arnd the world.. neckstall.. and all the crap.. and not forgetting my "wall stall". you can say it contributed to ABIT of the wall stains.
so one day while freestyling, Mrs Martina Ong walked past our classroom, and looked through the window. she went in, talked to us, and borrowed the ball. yes, borrowed.
so we had nth to play, and the soccer shoes i bought came to waste. so i said "i must get the ball back".
so we went to talk to her. she said she would give us some air time during the next assembly to talk abt classroom etiquettes. den she would return the ball.
but we din prepare, as it was SS CCT on that day.
so on that day of assembly, which is today, she suddenly talked abt the soccer thing.. we were damn shocked as we prepared no shit. so, wad yall heard today was totally impromptu.
vali naice!
i was trembling like some vibrator if yall noticed. and i din know wad i was saying..

aint not emo no more. (3 negative makes positive)
today quite okay.. went j8 cut hair den met those ruggers, had lunch at yoshi and chionged to ri.
we had to coach sec 1s and 2s for 7s.
den romi gave the permission for biq to join them. i tot cuz he was small, and i wanted to kinda clarify for myself. so i juz said " walao ma de, i oso want" den romi said i can too, k at that point of time i knew i sucked.
was burning this sec 1 and while running i see him quite close.. din know whether to hand him off or continue burning.. den i go hand off for fun, and got tackled. %^£$%^$%^ partly cuz of the "beam" or wadever shit i was wearing. he pulled it and it tore like a h*men. k not really i din bleed
7s is damn tiring.. esp when the gay grass is fake and dosent produce oxygen but some other chemicals that can rot ur lungs
den later was the important part of the day.. the main game, RI C'div vs old rafflesians over 35. i tot if i wasnt called to sub i wouldnt volunteer, but in the end romi said its self-rotating. so i planned to stay out.
but.. after half time leonard asked me to get a jersey and sub jason. i looked arnd and theres no jersey.. so half time started and i sat at the side.suddenly he noticed me and asked me to go in.. chee beh, but i was quite happy lah.. leonard called me instead of another guy "supposedly" better than me.. so i got a jersey and went on.. so we were receiving the ball.. and brandon kicked a ball directed at me and i dropped it. heng it fell back and we played on. i felt damn shit, so i kinda played better after that. i stopped brandon from scoring just b4 the tryline lol. damn shuang, but in the end chris still scored =/
chris the 300lbs bench presser handed me off when i was gonna (miss) tackle him.. damn siao lol and now it hurts with every breath. naice! =)
i felt better oso cuz a rugger told me i can make team nxt yr if i dun pon, and i din get in cuz i pon alot in sec 1 and 2.. hope its true lah.. so now i shud spam gym and beat those homies in my position.
